So I just wanted to alert you guys that sometime in the near distant future I will be making a post about Baki The Grappler.

I’ve been reading the spinoff/sequel series Baki Rahen as of late which continues the story of our boi, Jack Hanma—

and his, I guess you can say, redemption arc?

(Jack after getting half his face eaten by Pickles the caveman)
It’s been absolutely fantastic to read but I wouldn’t be doing the story justice (imo) if I covered it in a post yet because,
I have to go back and read the story from the beginning (womp-womp).
You see, I started reading Baki The Grappler about 10 years ago when some cool people told me to check it out (specifically the anime) and I heard a lot of good things prior and figured I’d just jump in and see what the hype was about. And The Son Of Ogre was still in the process of being completed and seemed more modern at the time as opposed to the first part of the story which originally began in 1991.

(Netflix renamed the anime BAKI HANMA. Son Of Ogre still would’ve been the better choice imo)
So I read a few chapters and I instantly became hooked, but intead of going all the way back to the beginning I kept pressing forward and I instead watched some OVAs and some wikipedia articles and youtube clips to fill in some blanks in the story, but now as I read Baki Rahen I’m finding myself more invested in Jack’s character and kind of rooting for the guy and now I desire a better understanding rather than the surface level I have now because Jack is complex very much so like his younger brother but, maybe even more so than I had originally given him credit, hints why I have to go back and re-read. I’m almost ashamed that I hadn’t done it sooner, but ya know, here we are. And all in all I’m happy Mr. Keisuke Itagaki has continued the story because after the final battle between Yujiro and the titular character, I didn’t I think I needed more Baki because I hadn’t given consideration to where the story could go. So much had already been done–

(Baki’s dad Yujiro the Grandmaster of VIOLENCE showing his son his patented human nunchuck technique)
— but thankfully Mr. Keisuke Itagaki is a creative type and said it’s not over until Biscuit Olivas wife sings …

(I’m expecting that joke to go over some people’s heads but I dont care)

— moving on, I’m very happy about the outcome and I’m ecstatic for more. Not to mention Baki Dou and the more recent Gaia/Sikorsky spinoff

— the Baki-verse is like a nice romp in the ocean on a hot day at the beach followed by watching the sun go down with a cold beverage in one of those beach chairs with the umbrella, while watching UFC knockouts on your phone,
a pleasant experience.
So when the forces align I’ll check back in and share my thoughts. In the meantime please support the official release
