So I was watching Versus Wolves on Youtube a while back and Park Chan-wook’s Vengeance trilogy got recommended so I decided to check it out although, I just recently finished the last film of the trio Lady Vengeance (2005). But I watched Oldboy (2003) and great as it was as you can tell by the comic I had some “opinions”. However, despite appearances even if presented with the opportunity I wouldn’t change a damn thing about that film. And in it’s own way it’s absolutely perfect for what it delivered. Now I’m actually of the division of people who watched the Spike Lee remake first in 2013 starring Josh Brolin and despite common opinions given the love for the original I actually enjoyed it for what it was. I think Spike Lee did a good job of tailoring it for a western audience and I’d like to think if there was an overall goal to introduce the world at large to Park Chan-wook’s film making I think it very much succeeded on that part. But yeah, if you enjoy psychological, action thrillers I suggest checking it out, but if you don’t mind reading subtitles definitely watch the original and if you’re really about that life check out the entire trilogy. Also on another note I saw the Chainsawman film in theaters a couple weeks ago and noticed a trailer for a new Park Chan-wook film “No Other Choice” so looking forward to checking that out when I eventually make some time .
